Texas Fireworks Press Release

CONSUMER FIREWORKS GO ON SALE TODAY

No Drought Restrictions

Alamo Fireworks is busy readying for the New Year’s as fireworks stands and stores begin opening today across Texas including the San Antonio area.

There are no drought restrictions on fireworks purchases. For the first time in several years, all products including rockets and all aerial fireworks that shoot in the air can be sold and used legally.

Fireworks users are reminded to be safe this holiday. When using fireworks, shoot only outside the city limits and away from houses, tall grass or people. Keep a bucket of water nearby, have an adult present and always follow the instructions on the packages.

Visit our website: www.alamofireworks.com

Fireworks sales go through midnight on January 1st.

Over 30 new products!

New Year’s is right around the corner.  We’ve introduced over 30 new products for this season.  Check out our new items on the New Products page!

Texas Fireworks Sales Start in Two Weeks!

It’s hard to stay calm when Texas fireworks sales start in just two weeks.  We’ve spent the past six months acquiring the best quality and performing fireworks for your enjoyment.  With the recovering economy and end of the drought, things are looking up and we’re here to help you celebrate.  Be sure to come visit our website around opening day to see our Texas Fireworks deals online.  We promise you’ll be blown away (pun intended…)

Alamo Fireworks Amargosa Valley/Pahrump, NV Demo and Open Shoot 4/24/2009

All are invited to our first 1.4g Demo and Open Shoot to be held Friday 4/24/2009 at our store in Amargosa Valley, NV/Pahrump area.

http://www.alamofireworks.com/nevada-fireworks.php

Several volunteers will be shooting 150+ reloadable shells, 25+ cakes, and a bunch of other stuff off at 6:30pm. We’ll have an Open Shoot (pending town approval expected 3/17!) afterwards. All regulated 1.4g stuff from any vendor will be allowed. No 1.3g, homemade shells, cannons, etc. allowed (please!).

If you RSVP w/ our store manager Faith (702-769-6682) and actually show up, we’ll give you a free box of Voodoo Balls (http://www.alamofireworks.com/firewo…info&pro_id=78). Free drinks will be included.

We open at 10am that day and will be open until the shoot is over (<10:30pm or whenever the town tells us to shut it down…). If you want to set up early, you’re welcome to do so. I’d guess they’ll start setting up the demo at 2-3pmish.

We’ll be also selling fireworks that night!

Alamo Fireworks Menace to Society

Help Save Texas Fireworks

We’ve put together a new website:

www.savetexasfireworks.com

This is a blog-based site that will contain information from Alamo and other vendors.  We’ll post updates on bills, county actions, and state law changes that will affect the end user.  The hope is that we can do a better job of mobilizing our operators and the general public to come out and support fireworks.  The vast majority of people love fireworks, the problem is just they’re a pretty quiet bunch!

Feedback welcome!

Buying Fireworks in Texas: A Guide to Texas Fireworks Laws for Consumers

In Texas, laws regarding fireworks are confusing. This is a summary of the Texas Fireworks laws for consumer fireworks.

What Fireworks You Can Buy in Texas:

All United States Consumer Product Safety Commission fireworks classified at 1.4G may be sold to the public (http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PUBS/012.html) except:

* Classic “bottle rockets” defined as stick rockets that have:

(A) a total propellant charge of less than four grams;
(B) a casing size of less than five-eighths of an inch for the outside diameter and less than 3-1/2 inches in length;
And
(C) an overall length, including stick, of less than 15 inches;

* “Texas Pop Rockets” with a propellant casing length of less than five inches, an exterior diameter of less than three-fourths of an inch, and an overall total rocket length of less than 26 inches are not permissible fireworks. Note that the text of this law says “and” so any stick rocket that exceeds one of those dimensions is legal in the state.

When & Where You Can Buy Fireworks:

Retailers get a license from the State of Texas either directly from the State Fire Marshal or through their distributor. A retail fireworks permit holder may sell fireworks only to the public, and only during periods:

1. beginning June 24 and ending at midnight on July 4;
2. beginning December 20 and ending at midnight on January 1 of the following year; and
3. beginning May 1 and ending at midnight on May 5 if the fireworks are sold at a location that is not more than 100 miles from the Texas-Mexico border and that is in a county in which the commissioners court of the county has approved the sale of fireworks during the period. Currently, only Maverick, Webb and a few other counties have approved sales for Cinco de Mayo.

When & Where You Can Shoot Fireworks:

In Texas, you are allowed to shoot fireworks year-round. The only restriction is when you can buy them. You can only shoot however in an area where it is not prohibited through City or County ordinance.  Cities are able to restrict fireworks use and possession in their city limits.  Some larger cities have the ability to restrict fireworks within 5000ft of their city limits.

Counties are only allowed to prohibit stick rockets and missiles with fins in times of drought. They can only do more than that by declaring a state of emergency in their county. For up to date information on the current ordinance in your county, call your local county fire marshal’s office.

Please note that this information is listed to the best of our knowledge and are subject to change. For definitive answers, please contact your local fire marshal.
